Heidi Newfield, the former lead singer of the ACM award-winning trio Trick Pony, pours all her hard-earned life lessons into Becoming Heidi, the follow-up to her first solo CD, 2008’s What Am I Waiting For. Heidi is the flagship artist for Curb’s newly re-launched imprint, Sidewalk Records. Becoming Heidi, produced by the famed Blake Chancey (The Dixie Chicks, Montgomery Gentry), is “the best record I’ve made yet,” she says. “It’s coming from a perspective that I think is missing out there, and one that I want to stand up for.” That viewpoint is bone, stone country, refreshing in this day and age when the lines of country music have been blurred to reach a larger audience. And Newfield, who staunchly believes that country artists shouldn’t be afraid to cut a real country record, wants people to take notice.
I want little girls to listen to this album and go, ‘Oh, man, that’s so cool!’ Because this is old school, throwback country. It’s just got a really fresh coat of paint on it.” Listen here on NEW!
