SoulsilenS.
It's the silence of the soul.
It's peace. It's love. It's energy. But more than anything, from heavy to slow, from the heart to the soul, SoulsilenS is PASSION.
It started in Brazil when, at the age of three, Andrei SoulsilenS was introduced to music by his father via an old acoustic guitar.
By age 13, when Andrei wrote his first full-length song ("Pollution"), his musical destiny
-- to fuse his African and European roots in the roiling cauldron of the first wave of Seattle sound -- was set.
The band's first lineup met early success in Brazil and in the United States with the 2004 release of its debut album,
Several Feelings, which evidenced strong influences from Kurt Cobain's vocals and guitar melodies: Grungy distortion,
simple and powerful melodies, and raw emotion, all undergirding intelligent lyrics. For the rest of the decade,
Andrei remained in the public spotlight, with numerous appearances in English and Portuguese-language media in Brazil and
the United States, culminating in an appearance on Versailles Records' Skater Rock compilation album.
As 2010 approached, and Andrei neared the completion of recording his second full-length album,
he began his search for new bandmates who shared the SoulsilenS ethos of passion, love, and respect for the raw power of Grunge:
Musicians who, like him, appreciated a unique sound infused with Brazilian popular music, the Classical tradition, and all eras of rock.
Musicians who, like Andrei and his thousands of fans around the world, live boldly and without fear, who love
and laugh as freely as they are passionate about creating and enjoying infectious, emotion-driven music.
Today, bassist TrE is a primary fan of the band in which he is also a member.
Together, the SoulsilenS family of musicians, fans, and friends is bringing back the Grunge.
Together, we are living the translation of musical passion into life, and the translation of our passion for life into music.
Grunge was born in Seattle, but no other city may have embraced it as lovingly (or as permanently) as Philadelphia.
WMMR was one of the first stations to promote Pearl Jam, and its listeners continue their love for the pioneering band today,
with the station's daily Ten Club showcase.
Historic acts like Alice in Chains and Soundgarden look forward to multiple sold-out shows for their tours here.
Perhaps no other city is better situated to re-launch a new take on one of the most honest and lasting genres of rock in history:
Alternative Grunge!
A musical passion translated into a life, a life passion translated into music.
Simply... SoulsilenS.
