I am in the school choir. I am a guitar student of Jason Truby from the band P.O.D. He recorded my demo “Carolina Boy” the summer of 2012. I wrote “Carolina Boy” in the bathroom at Margaritaville in Nashville at 2 a.m. after a Love and Theft concert during the CMA Music Festival. I like keeping a mischievous attitude when writing. So many of today’s young female writers go after the sweet fairy tale stories but I say no, it doesn’t always work that way. Sometimes but not usually. My favorite thing about country music is the story-telling of it. “Carolina Boy” is the story of my night dancing with a beautiful 22 year old from Charlotte and telling him during the CMA Fest that I was 18.
