Before he became known to the world as "The 1 And Only Don Smoki" he was a troublesome Flatbush Brooklyn native of Jamaican/Trinidadian descent who's mother tried to grow him up as an American. These actions left SMOKI with an empty feeling inside until he discovered reggae music thru his uncle and Step-Father who were always mixing riddims in the house and basement.DON SMOKI was convinced that he wanted to be an artist once initially being inspired by reggae greats like Supa Cat, shaggy, beenie, shabba, bounty, ninja man, and buju banton to name a few. SMOKI then embraced his heritage and culture much to his mothers dismay and been going thru a constant metamorphosis ever since and keeps evolving his style since him and his music are a product of his habitat, and he doesn't stop there he also makes riddims and was a local radio dj for 90.9 fm as well as preforming where or whenever the opportunity presents itself
whether it be a venue or just his daily commute on the bus,train or walking singing and practicing his flow, voice and breathing. so keep an eye out u might just see DON SMOKI......
