Black Elway's love for rap and hip-hop drove him to start creating lyrics at the age of twelve and he recorded his first song at the age of thirteen. His consistent drive enabled him to write and produce his first retail ready project titled Striven Till I Ball at the age of nineteen. The maxi single hit the Midwest hard from Missouri to Colorado. After promoting in the Midwest Black Elway moved to Atlanta GA where he sold thousands of CDs out the trunk of his car. Three years later he returned to Denver where he found fans awaiting his next project. Black Elway returned to the studio and started numerous projects which led to him being featured on the compilation CD Denvers Most Blunted featuring the single titled Midwest Niggas co-starring Innerstate Ike. Upon completion of a few projects Black Elway began working on his first solo album titled "Independent Dope" which would be credited to his newly formed label Lucky 7 Records Inc.
