Sinem Saniye (pronounced “see-nem” “sahh-knee-yeh,”) is an award-winning singer/songwriter from New York City, born in Germany with Turkish family roots, who channels a sound that skirts Nelly Furtado, Norah Jones, and Shakira. Sinem worked with Grammy-Award winning producers Mark Plati, Philip A. Jimenez, Henri Scars Stuck, and Greg Calbi on her debut album “When I Don’t Sleep..”, which was released with much critical acclaim to a sold-out show at the the Triad Theater in New York City. Collaborators that worked on the album also worked with No Doubt, David Bowie, Brazilian Girls, Louise Attaque, Norah Jones, Fiona Apple, and Madonna.

Earlier in 2010 Delta Airlines featured Sinem’s song “A Certain Kind Of Lovely” on their inflight music program and magazine, and more recently, Sinem returned from a nationwide US Tour 2010, (an ambitious 30-city, SOLO feat spanning the entire US and even into Vancouver Canada for 3 months, where she nearly got arrested for having mace on her key chain!) Sinem Saniye officialy ends her tour with a spectacular homecoming show, opening for Grammy-nominated artist Lisa Loeb at City Winery on June 2, 2010 in New York City. Sinem has also shared the stage with Jonatha Brooke, Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers, Michele Branch, Katy Melua, and David Brubeck.

On her US Tour, Sinem played to sold-out crowds in many cities, and along her travels she played during SXSW 2010, was featured in the press in several states, played to a packed house at the prestigious Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles, made the LA papers with a feature in the LA Examiner, and was interviewed by Metro Unplugged, a TV program which featured a performance and interview by Sinem on all Los Angeles city buses and metro system everyday for an entire week… boasting a viewership of nearly 100,000 commuters. She’s won several songwriting awards, including the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, chosen out of nearly 20,000 other songwriters by celebrity judges that included Tom Waits, Jesse Harris, and Fergie from the Black-Eyed Peas. Sinem is frequently featured in magazines and papers including TimeOUT NY, Global Rhythm Magazine, The Village Voice, The Los Angeles Times, the LA Examiner, The Idaho Tribune, DC IST, and television programs across the US such as Fuse TV, Indi Music TV, Music Mix USA, Swept Away TV, The Rhythms of NY, The Directors Chair, and Metro Unplugged (a program that recently aired to over 100,000 commuters on the entire Los Angeles bus systems’ TV screens in April of 2010) and appeared on national overseas television including CNN, Fox TV, TRT-INT (airs to all of Europe,) Flash TV, ATV, and MTV.
