He has the soulful voice of Peabo Bryson and the songwriting talent of Ne-Yo. He is: Iam Khalif, music's next triple threat! Born and raised in Southwest Philadelphia, Iam Khalif always knew he would be in the spotlight. "I have been singing, dancing and performing for as long as I can remember...this is my destiny."
Iam Khalif began singing in the church choir at 12. Church-goers were blown away by Khalif's powerful, mature vocals, ultimately labeling him as "the boy with the golden voice." Besides his amazing singing abilities, Iam Khalif became known in his neighborhood as a talented dancer and choreographer, often performing shows on the front stoop of his parent's row house. Iam Khalif or I am as some call him attended John Bartram Motivation High School and performed (and won) many talent shows. At age sixteen he auditioned for his first group as one of the background singers, but eventually became the lead vocalist. When that group disbanded, Iam Khalif decided to venture out on his own as a solo artist.
Iam Khalif has graced the stage at the world-famous Apollo Theater, Philadelphia's The Five Spot and has opened for songstress Vivian Green. He has performed at several local music venues amongst his peers such as, Tritones on South Street and The Clef Club. Iam Khalif's style of music is described as a mix of R&B, hip-hop and pop with driving beats. Music is just one of Iam Khalif's many talents. He recently made his acting debut in a local production of Dreamgirls as the character Jimmy Early, where he won Supporting Actor. Iam Khalif also has the lead role in a new stage play titled, "Choices" due out this spring. Iam Khalif's latest single entitled, "You got me Singing", has currently been released to commercial radio as well as Itunes and all other internet media. His latest single, "Tonite We Gone Party" is set to be released in early June. Iam Khalif is currently working on his album, tentatively titled: I Am...Khalif, with an expected release date of Fall 2011. Iam Khalif: a rising phenom blazing your way soon!
