Overview: Serving up a roots country sound tinged with a hint of southern rock, JTodd brings a mix of humor and reality to country songs that tell the stories of real life.
Born in South Carolina and growing up in a small town named Ninety Six, JTodd was influenced by music from an early age. He began playing piano in elementary
school and followed with guitar when he was in the fifth grade. He was heavily influenced by the country and southern rock artists of the 80’s and 90’s as well as the gospel his grandmother played for him when he was young.
JTodd joined the Army in 1994 and began songwriting after deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. His first song, “Daddy’s Girl,” is a heart-wrenching ballad inspired by his own experiences leaving his two daughters to deploy. A variety of songs followed, from the bluegrass influenced "A little more with a little less" to the hard-driving, somewhat satirical look at married life entitled "Honeymoon's Over".
