Overview: An artist who has composed and recorded many albums, his latest being Chillin’ Out in Dark Places, but who has no current plans to perform his music live in a concert setting any time soon. The 13 tracks that Blessett has brought together for his latest record are hard to classify, and calling them “jazz fusion” is a bit of a misnomer. His music is electronic in nature, mixing beats and electronic instruments into his writing, while at the same time featuring a healthy dose of acoustic instruments and jazz improvisation. Though this combination has been done to certain degrees with other bands in the past, and to various degrees of success, Blessett’s strong writing and mixing skills shine through on this record, making it appealing to both fans of modern electronic music, dance beats and jazz improv.

Chillin out in Dark Places, the latest release from the multitalented multi-instrumentalist Joe Blessett, shines the spotlight on the persistently evolving music of a genuinely enigmatic artist who has chosen to work solitarily in the shadow of relative anonymity in pursuit of his own uncompromising vision. A saxophonist/six-stringer/keyboardist/bassist, Blessett unabashedly confesses that he “does not play well with others” and has chosen to create his own unique sound solo, with the aid of modern computer technology. Influenced by the barrier breaking electric music of Miles Davis and like minded players from fusionists Weather Report and Buddy Miles to soul survivors Junior Walker and Booker T and the MG’s, Blessett’s songs are inspired by the myriad sights he’s seen throughout his world travels.
  BIOGRAPHY
Doing what I do. Living, traveling and enjoying fine dining coast to coast Florida to California. Living in the shadows observing and reporting life through the music I make. Walking alone and never looking back, when opportunity knocks will you know when you see it. With a six string and synthetic keys I aim to please giving up music that will knock you to your knees. Along with friends and some free ends we will lay down some tracks that will keep you coming back.
