SINGER-SONGWRITER AND PRODUCER
KIM RUFF

Kim Ruff grew up singing under the influences of great songwriters and artists such as “Baby face”, Whitney Houston, and Be Be and Ce Ce Winans. She has always been drawn to beautiful voices and great music.

Anyone who has heard her sing has been blessed and asked her to sing again. Kim has been a songbird her entire life since the age of 8 singing in her church choir, Solomon Tabernacle Baptist Church, Vidalia, Georgia. She was involved in music all through grade school and High School. After graduating high school, she was surprised to be offered a music scholarship from Brewton Parker College. It was evident that God had anointed her early and all could see it. Not only was she named most talented senior superlative in High School, she was also named most talented in music both her sophomore and Junior years at Brewton Parker College.

While in High school she and her sister and a close friend formed a gospel group called the Mc Swain Trio. In 1988, Kim was crowned Miss Black Teen of Vidalia, Ga. She also debuted in the musical “Little Shop of Horrors” at the local Franklenia playhouse. Kim sang and traveled with the Mel Blount Youth Home Choir. While in college, Kim sang in the concert choir and Baron Road singers. She toured with the Baron road show to several high schools across the south region.
Kim has sung in over 100 weddings and events.

Kim once heard someone say that a singer never really reaches their full potential until they experience a broken heart. When her mother lost her battle with breast cancer in 1998, God comforted her through her music.” My mother was indeed my biggest fan”. She always encouraged her to reach for the stars! One day she began singing a song she had never heard before and realized she had written it. Now, when she writes it is effortless. “I can literally write a song on the spot if needed.” I know that is truly a gift from my Lord and Savior”.

Kim was told that she needed to do something with her voice, so she got the courage to go see a well respected radio announcer” Willie McClendon”. After visiting with her and sharing her demo, Ms. Willie advised her to complete an entire project. “I remember thinking, an entire project! I don’t know if I can”. This proved to stretch her to her fullest potential as both a songwriter and a recording artist. “God told me to go and see her, so that’s what I did”.

In October 2007, Kim was a featured soloist in the Gospel Diva concert at the Tivoli Theatre. In April of 2008, she shared the stage with the princess of gospel, Gospel recording artist, Stellar Nominee Angela Spivey and Dove nominated group New Harvest. In July 2008, she did a joint concert with Saxophonist, Mel Holder. In July, 2009 she shared the stage with Sean Simmonds and On October 23, 2009 she shared the stage with Grammy Award Winner, Pastor Donnie McClurkin. Kim continues to sing at her church, New Life SDA church, Chattanooga, TN.

Kim and her husband of 15 years, Elder Mack Ruff, recently launched their record label MacKim Records and Carrington Entertainment Group. They have one son, Spencer, who is featured on her CD

Kim says that she believes everyone has a purpose and a calling. She is committed to encouraging and inspiring people through her music. Kim is especially interested in those who are victims of domestic violence.
