Overview: A mix of modern rock with elements of reggae, punk, world music, and Latin roots, is the new perspective of music sung in Spanish called Kalua. Formed in 2007, Kalua began with the vision to become a premier band in contemporary Latin music worldwide. Influenced by bands like Soda stereo, Mana, Caifanes, and Santana, kalua started to write original material with the objective of recording an album. The process that took over a year, started on September 2007 at Promise land studios in Austin, Texas, and ended with the release of Kalua's debut CD "La Novedad" on November 2008. Soon, fan support pushed Kalua to record a video for their single "Volvere", a song that has been broadcasted on TV shows and radios across the United States, Argentina and Venezuela. Moved by their talent, music and passion, Kalua was chosen for two years in a row as winners of "Tu Ciudad, Tu Musica (08-09)" a nationwide battle of the bands judged by a professional panel sponsor by Burger King.
