Born February 5, 1983, this Dallas Oak Cliff native discovered her unique voice at the tender age of 5 while singing with her grandmother. Her first major public performance came at the age of 15 when she sang “His Eyes Are on the Sparrow” in front of an audience of five thousand at the National Church of Christ Youth Conference in Atlanta Georgia. To this day Kinyanna says that, “singing in front of all those people and receiving a standing ovation afterwards was the most memorable event in my life.” It was at this time that Kinyanna decided to venture out and share with the world her special gift.

Kinyanna has performed at various events such as the Firehouse, Sultry Soul Night, the Wine Cellar, Sankofa Arts Kafe, and Brooklyn’s Jazz Café. But it doesn’t stop there; Kinyanna spends a great deal of time involved with community and has performed at various community events held at the Jubilee Park and Community Center and the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreational Center both in Dallas, Texas.

Presently Kinyanna is promoting her first single titled Yanna’s Groove, set for release in mid July of 2009. Yanna’s Groove is a mid-tempo feel good song with a rhythmic push that is complimented by guitars that remind you of old time 70’s funk. One thing is for sure this song bound to find its way into your backyard barbeques or escorting you on your late night summer drives down the boulevard.
