For the last 3 years P.C. THA GREAT (Google that name) has been on his grind trying to build up not only his name but his record label as well. Knowing the only way to break in the business now a days is to make your self apart of the business in 2008 P.C. THA GREAT invested in starting his own indie record label starting with make his company a llc label. After that with hardly any money at arms reach P.C. THA GREAT managed to start pushing his name out in front of 100,000 people in his local market. Starting in NOV. ‘08 he started booking gigs and doing live shows at a few local clubs and bars. At that time getting shows really wasn’t the hard thing it was getting people to come to the shows . Seeing this he decided that he had to start promoting every thing he did until people started to recognize his name .

He started by putting out flyers for every show he did and even when the show was over if any flyers were left he still put them out. Seeing how the flyers started to create a buzz for him he decided to put his music on the street so now not only did the people know his name they knew his sound too this help him pack 5 shows in a roll and that also had club managers calling him back to do shows. After seeing the buzz he got from giving away 10,000 free promo cd’s he went back in to his home project studio produced some more tracks and recorded more songs until he had over 50 tracks done then he picked 15 tracks out of the 50 to add with the 4 tracks he had out on his promo cd. Then mastered the music put it on a cd found the best price he could to get it manufactured scraped up some more money and sent to disc makers.

While he waited for his production of cd’s to come back he barrowed more money from family and friends add that with his job money and started to promote the cd it self. During this time he gave promo copies to stores like f.y.e and best buy dj’s at all the local clubs even sent in some promos to clear channel 99.3 the beat, island 106 and 107.9 all in his local market he ask local stores to play his single bay county in there shops and mom and pop spots along with stores in the local mall . Did a couple more shows and opened up for Pastor Troy when he came to amnesia.


By the time spring break 09 came he had cd’s to hit the beach with to sale to spring breaks his plan was not to try to use his buzz to get over on sales with spring breakers. It was more to build up the money to keep the buzz he had going for his cd up. By the end of spring break 09 P.C .THE GREAT and a few artist he had signed to his indie label had hit over 15-20,000 spring breakers out of 300,000 and sold 1,535 live units which was about 75 to 178 copies a night. This gave him the money to try to get his cd to the next level. So he started looking for distribution for his project he was turned down by a few labels so he had to try to find another way to get the music to stores. Before this time he had tried tune core not really under standing the digital side . So this time he used cd baby in cd baby advertisements they said the could get u store placement via super d and cd connections it sound with trying but the music never got store placement


by this time he had already promoted hard to get people to hit the stores. By doing a couple radio spots ($600) TV ads ($900) myspace and face book ($350 ea) more flyers ($300) did a you tube ad and also had a cd release party at one of the clubs where he had repeat shows and lost 1235 bucks paying for bar tenders, bouncers, and a DJ how the party was thrown on a Thursday night and the people didn’t like the venue because of its rep for only having rock and country bands a lot of the nights that he did a show there It was after a cover band. People did not like that. But he did sale over 350 tickets and 350 cd’s that night seeing that the cd price was added in with the door price $20.00 at the door .


After the album release party P.C. THA GREAT kept doing shows and sold from 50 to 130 cds a night at each show he also so sold 500 downloads on his website www.pcthagreatlive09.com with a contest he threw trying to get 5,000 downloads and in a $1000 give away after all the promotion and show he gained a fan base of about 10,000 fans on his emailing list over 2,000,000 palys and reviews on myspace,700 twitter followers 1700 ringtone downloads a spot in the news paper and a big boost on google about 10 pages. Now p. c.tha great is in the studio working on a cd called RED FLAG MUZIK and his goal is to release it on a more structured record label so he can learn from people with more experience marketing and has to access to good promoters and booking agents another thing that’s going on with p. c. tha great right now is he is also busy on two other project by his artist los baby and ms deja’ vu
