At the ripe young age of fourteen, Danielle was chosen as a finalist out of the 25,000 that auditioned, and appeared on “Ed McMahon’s Star Search.” Thereafter, she worked her way up through various singing competitions, voice and piano lessons, radio jingle jobs, and demo projects for other artists. While attending Azusa Pacific University as a vocal performance major, she began working under the tutelage of world-renown vocal instructor Ron Anderson of Anderson Vocal Productions. In 2006, Ron joined forces with Kurt Howell and formed West Drive Entertainment, widely known as “WDE.” Recognizing Danielle’s special talent, these two world class players immediately took her under their wing, which lead to Kurt Howell producing Danielle’s newly-released EP.
Kurt Howell’s experience as a recording artist, vocalist, musician, writer, producer, and publisher is second to none. Starting in the 80’s as an artist for Warner Brothers Records, Kurt wrote, co-produced and performed for millions of listeners world-wide with the country group Southern Pacific. He has experienced all facets of today’s music industry and now produces for many of today’s top record companies.
On her new EP Danielle Tucker displays a refreshing and direct style with a broad range and a super strong voice. You won’t hear many “girl-power” songs with more sass and attitude than “Every Woman,” written by Kim Patton-Johnston and Kurt Howell. Her Wynona-like growl cuts through in the sexy, come-hither “Touched,” written by Jim Peterik and Kurt Howell. Her happy-go-lucky, fun-loving country gal style shows up in “Fallin’ Up” written by Ed Hill and Kurt Howell. And the striking love ballad “Just Let Go” written by Pablo Manavello, David Huff, and Kurt Howell beautifully embodies her feminine tender persona.
All of the songs on this production were recorded at Nashville’s premiere recording facility OMNIsound Studios with Jeff King on electric guitar, Bruce Bouton on pedal steel guitar, Steve Bruster on drums, Biff Watson on acoustic guitar, Larry Franklin on fiddle, Kurt Howell ..s and Craig Young on bass. Vocals were recorded at Tony Shepperd’s Tonysound in Los Angeles. All of the songs were mixed by Jeff Balding and engineered by Kurt Howell.
Born Danielle Leigh Griffitts in Arlington, Texas to parents Steve and Sherry, she and her three brothers were raised on country music. Her early influences include Reba McEntire, Shania Twain, LeAnn Rimes, and Faith Hill. Danielle believes her singing talent may have originated with her grandmother Stella Breen, who performed as Sandra Paige with both Benny Goodman and Tommy Dorsey in the Big Band era of the 40’s.
“I know I’m doing what I was born to do,” Danielle says. “I’ve been singing, performing, and generally hamming it up since I could walk and talk. God gave me a special gift and I have spent years developing and refining it. Now is the time. In the words of the immortal Garth Brooks, ‘Life is not tried, it is merely survived if you’re standing outside the fire.’”
