Overview: June the D-Spicable was born April 29, 1981, in Los Angeles, California to a musically inclined family. His mother (Puerto Rican) and father (Colombian) were struggling in the city and moved their family to Caguas, Puerto Rico, in 1995, to keep June’s older brother safe from gang violence in L.A. Life in Puerto Rico was not much better and at 13, the differences in cultures from the West Coast to Puerto Rico were difficult to manage, but was a great experience to have, especially musically. He experienced this again when his family moved to Tampa, Florida, two years later and went from the Caribbean to the South. June grew up in a family deep rooted in music, but was the first to pursue it as a career in his family; his grandmother sung, his grandfather and uncle played several instruments, and his father continued the families’ musical connection at 13 when he began to DJ.
