Jonny Blu's second album release "In A Groove" and "In Just That Kind Of A Mood" are still a vailable at every online store, including iTunes, Rhapsody, eMusic, Napster and more.
With a cool and sophisticated vocal style, Jonny Blu leads the way among a new generation of Swing/Pop artists, writing, composing and producing his own songs. Jonny's music, combining a swing driven sound with hints of blues and jazz, will please any generation of listeners.
Jonny Blu is a uniquely talented singer/songwriter who was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, but made his debut into the music world in of all places China. Blu worked his way through the Chinese singing competition circuits to finally arrive in Hong Kong and become the first ever non-Chinese (Caucasian) Pop star in China. After his success in China, and appearing (as himself) in the Disney blockbuster film Princess Diaries 2, Jonny decided to shift his musical path and return to the USA to promote his first English Swing/Pop album In Just That Kind of a Mood. Uniquely among his contemporaries, most of the songs on Jonny's debut album, and his 2008 EP release In A Groove, are actually written by him; a talent that has set him a cut above the rest. Blu's music contains original compositions as well as standards by artists ranging from the classic Cole Porter to LL Cool J, all with Blu's own contemporary spin. Songs like the Sweet Lovin in the Afternoon, In A Groove, Smilin' Eyes and Ooh-Wee are examples of Jonny Blu's natural gift for songwriting and his ability to create a nostalgic and familiar sound while still keeping his music fresh and new.
His new album Taboo! (a co-production with Peer Music) was officially released on October 6 of this year. The first show to promote the album was to a sold out crowd at Iridium Jazz Club in NYC on September 12. The album features a collection of Latin standards (in English and a couple in Spanish) like Babaloo, Sabor A Mi, Taboo, and Besame Mucho with contemporary arrangements and a major crossover potential.
Jonny has been touring extensively on the west and east US coasts for the past few years and his music is featured on several nationally syndicated adult contemporary and jazz radio and internet radio stations nationwide and internationally. In 2008, Jonny's album was released in Eastern Europe by Universal/QL Music (and has sold in the thousands), his music has been featured on several Major Label (Universal and EMI) Swing and Jazz Compilation CDs and his songs In Just That Kind of a Mood and Ooh-Wee were featured on the CBS show Young and the Restless.
Jonny Blu and his music have been very well received by his sizable fan base (over 50,000 and growing daily) and is enormously appealing to fans of Michael Buble, Norah Jones, Harry Connick Jr., John Mayer, Diana Krall and the like.
