Overview: David Compito had some very musical beginnings during his childhood and adolescence. Forced to take piano lessons by his mother at 11 years old, he rebelled and refused to continue after his sixth lesson, locking himself in his room when the piano teacher came to his home. He played trumpet for a little while and was in the junior high school band. He was also the troop bugler in his Boy Scout troop. But wind instruments just didn’t seem to excite him much. At 13 years of age he picked up the guitar, took a handful of lessons, and being the independent, “I can do it all on my own,” sort of young teen, lessons soon stopped. David played in a few bands during his teen years. But never really latched onto a group of colleagues/peers that wanted to pursue a music career. Regardless, he never stopped playing.
