Simultaneously evoking the style and spirit of artists as varied as Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, and Gram Parsons, Nething is one of the standout voices in Denver's emerging music scene. Of the critically acclaimed musicians poised to break out onto the national circuit, Nething is consistently thought of among the top contenders. Transplanted to Denver several years ago, Nething was a founding member of the groups In The Act of Being, the legendary All Nighters, and Panhandler Down. Nething continued to evolve from the Blues Americana genre of those early bands to a more diversified sound, as heard in his work with Tito del Barrio Málaga and Freak Street Project. Most exciting though, are Nething's recent moves as a solo performer. John plays guitar, bass, harmonica, drums and percussion, but is more and more becoming known for his distinctive and passionate vocal style. John once told me, "a lot of people talk of being the next this, or the next that. That's not my style. I can and only will be me."
