Overview: Symbiont started in the Fall of 2005 right here in the Grand Cities. They've played many shows in ND and MN and currently have been around longer than any other active local/original band in GF. Formed by founders Jeremy Hoffarth and Justin Bjarnason, the band wanted to write music that is melodic, hard-driven, and that you can understand the words (at least most of the time). Amongst the local music scene, the band has always felt like they were the underdogs.....in a sea of hardcore/screamo bands, Symbiont stuck to the heavily emotional and artistic sides of music. The 'running joke' regarding the band is that it can't find a genre to fit into--- too hard for alt. rock; too soft for metal; too enigmatic for mainstream rock. The band's music is heavily influenced by the likes of TOOL, Alice in Chains, and Staind, amongst others
