The results of DJ Mag's coveted and highly anticipated annual Top 100 DJ Poll were announced on Friday, revealing a shift, not only in the top 10, but throughout the entire list from 2011. Year after year, DJs and producers from all over the world campaign for the yearly poll, for their fans to vote for them, hoping to score high in the list.
Last year's top spot was claimed by David Guetta, however the French DJ/producer fell back a few spots to the #4 position, with Swedish powerhouse Avicii just ahead of him at #3. Other top ten artists included Deadmau5 at #5, Afrojack at #9, and Tiesto at #2. Trio Swedish House Mafia just missed the top 10, landing at #12 this year, and Calvin Harris at #31.
The #1 spot this year was claimed by trance DJ/producer Armin Van Buuren. This is Armin's fifth time winning the top spot, almost consecutively. After being voted #1 four times in a row, taking last year off with Guetta pulling ahead, he has returned to #1 for 2012. In a docuementary released just this year A Year with Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta, after winning #1 last year, tells Armin that he would take back his throne at #1 again next year, and it looks like his prophecy came true.
A big congratulations to Armin and to everyone who was voted in the top 100 this year. Check out the full results of the poll here.
